Passing is the directing debut of Rebecca Hall and it’s rather exquisitely told, the story of two black women who run into each other in 1920s New York and understand how they’re both “passing” as white to negotiate the colour line and avoid segregation. One of them is in a far more shocking situation than the other and their lives then intertwine with dramatic consequences.
It’s beautiful and intriguing rather than action-packed and you can hear all about Passing by listening to its stars Ruth Negga and Andre Holland on my podcast.
