Alice Lowe’s debut as director is Prevenge, a film which has already taken Venice and Toronto by storm and is set to do the same at the London Film Festival where it screens next and where it’s up for the £50,000 IWC Filmmaker Bursary Award.
I caught up with Alice just after the film’s Venice bow to talk about this deliriously dark comedy about a pregnant woman who is urged by her demon foetus to commit atrocious murders.
It’s a mash up of themes and styles – all about identity and control on one level, murder and mayhem on another.
Listen to Alice tell me how she did it, with baby Della Moon’s considerable help. At least I think it was Alice talking…
Prevenge screens at the London Film Festival on Thursday 13 October and Sunday 16 October.
