Did we need another doc on The Beatles, especially one from Ron Howard? Unsurprisingly this is a very slick operation and puts together a nice timeline of the Fab Four’s concerts, particularly their tours of America, from the Ed Sullivan show appearance to their final live gig at Candlestick Park in San Francisco in 66.
That’s the chief interest here, the Beatlemania, their subtle insistence on never playing to segregated audiences and their sheer cheeky charisma.
It’s fun, hagiographic, and comforting and released today.
