La rentrée...
So good to be back in the cinema and such a great theatre - the Cine Lumière had me back hosting Oscar winner Christopher Hampton and legendary production designer Peter Francis who expounded so fascinatingly on their work on this superb film from Florian Zeller.
I hadn’t seen #TheFather on the big screen and, wow, what a difference it makes - you feel the sets and the fabrics, marvel at Anthony Hopkins’ every facial muscle, and shudder at the sheer brilliance of Olivia Colman, who really should have won awards for this - her eyes are luminous with pain and love.
Loved being back in cinemas and, of course, on stage. Even loved the little “Covid canapés” at the pre-screening champagne reception...a new normal indeed.
A wonderful film, then, which you must see in cinemas on Jun 11 @lionsgateuk and look out for Sir Christopher Hampton on my podcast very soon...
