David Bowie’s – Golden Years

David Bowie’s Golden Years is a welcome sound, as ever, this week, playing over the opening credits of somewhat ropey British pensioner comedy Golden Years, which was written by DIY presenter Nick Knowles. Maybe he should have got a few more professionals in… Actually, it’s a game effort and nice idea on the whole, a story of pensioners turning to bank robbery after their pension funds are rendered bankrupt. Bernard Hill, Phil Davis, Virginia McKenna, Una Stubbs and Simon Callow are a good cast, too.

But the Bowie song’s are really the best bit…

Of course, it also featured in another film, A Knight’s Tale, in a dance sequence starring Heath Ledger, Shannyn Sossamon and a younger Berenice Bejo, here.
