Comes Along A Love – Kay Starr

Although maligned by some, Ewan McGregor’s directing debut of Philip Roth’s American Pastoral is pretty good for about an hour. It gets off to a very decent start, helped by the great David Strathairn doing the voice-over and arriving at his school reunion to learn the fate of legendary athlete The Swede. Some of the bounce – and the theme – also comes from this terrific choice of opening track which underscores the Americana in the opening credits, Kay Starr’s 1952 hit Comes Along A Love: Although maligned by some, Ewan McGregor’s directing debut of Philip Roth’s American Pastoral is pretty good for about an hour.
