Branford Marsalis Quartet – Mo’ Better Blues ft. Terence Blanchard

Not much music at the movies this week apart from Hans Zimmer’s impressive score for Dunkirk, but you don’t really want to listen to that. So, I went to see Branford Marsalis and his quartet with vocalist Kurt Elling at the Barbican last Sunday and it was brilliant, so classy and tight and thrilling. Branford’s done a bit of work for movies in his time, and here’s one of my all time favourites, from 1990, his theme tune to Spike Lee’s Mo’ Better Blues in which Branford is played by Wesley Snipes and Terence Blanchard is taken by Denzel Washington.
