She’s the Oscar-nominated production designer Hollywood looks for when they want Paris to look its best. Anne Seibel performed wonders for Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, so it was a Valentine’s Day treat that the Academy and the French Institute put on to celebrate their on-going collaboration on a season called The Craft of Film. I was asked, as a francophone and Woody expert, to host the night and Anne and I giggled through watching one of the director’s most charming films again. We then took to the stage to go into great details about her set dressing and Paris locations. She showed her sketches and behind-the-scenes artwork and told of her attempts to get a real Picasso painting down to the set. She also revealed a few of Woody’s favourite Parisian haunts. It was as fascinating an evening as it was charming and nostalgic.
